The Almohad influence on architecture is well preserved in the quarter of Albaicín with its fine examples of Moorish and Morisco construction. Granada is also well-known within Spain for its prestigious university which has about 80,000 students spread over five different campuses in the city.

Workshop location

The workshop will be held at the Palacio de la Madraza, next door to the Cathedral in the city center. The Palacio de la Madraza  was the first Islamic university, founded by Yusuf I, and became one of the most important in the Islamic world, constituting an academic centre that at that time attracted philosophers from many countries. When in the XVIII Century a Baroque palace was built on its place, the architects kept the old oratory or mirhab with its beautiful Mocarab cornice. Nowadays, the Palacio de la Madraza belongs to the University of Granada.
