Daniel F. McCaffrey is the Fredric M. Lord Chair of Measurement and Statistics at ETS. He co-leads the ETS’s Constructed Response Scoring Technical Advisory Committee which evaluates the use of artificial-intelligence scoring for all ETS products. He is also the lead author of ETS’s Best Practices for Constructed-Response Scoring. Dr. McCaffrey has conducted educational research for over 30 years with over 250 published articles, chapters, and reports including widely cited works on value-added modeling and the use of machine learning methods for estimating causal effects. Prior to his current appointment, Dr. McCaffrey was Associate Vice President of Psychometric Analysis and Research where he led the team of over 150 psychometricians and data analysts who conduct the essential psychometric analyses for all ETS products and major contracts. He is a Fellow of the American Statistical Association.
